Atmospheric turbulence and aerosol monitoring with Doppler lidar
Wind Doppler lidar has undergone in recent years, a rapid development due to the growth of wind energy and airport markets. Compact, mobile and performing tools are now commercially available. However, the potential of those instruments is not yet fully exploited in air pollution and atmospheric dynamics studies. It opens an attractive research field, particularly together with new chemical tools.
The objective of the project is to study and extend the possibilities of a recent infrared Doppler lidar in the following fields:
- Atmospheric turbulence and meteorological phenomena
- Aerosol mass quantification in urban and industrial area
- Analysis of gaseous and aerosol pollution phenomena
- Atmospheric modelling
The postdoctoral researcher participates in intensive field campaigns, using many physical and chemical tools, together with Physicists and Chemists involved in the “Chemistry And Physical Properties of the Atmosphere” LABEX project (CaPPA). This work will also include a cooperation with LEOSPHERE company, leader in the field of Doppler lidars.
